India-Pakistan - On Saturday, October 8, 2005, the northern part of Pakistan as well as Northwest India and parts of Afghanistan were shaken by a major earthquake centered in Pakistan. The earthquake measured 7.6 on the Richter Scale. Due to the mountainous terrain and inaccessible nature of the area the initial assessment of casualties and damage was slow to be recognized.
WPF stepped into the picture to provide shelter, food, water and clothing to the estimated 60,000 injured and
3 million displaced.
